The project pioneered collaboration between artist-designers and landscape architects, transport and traffic engineers on planning and design for the major roadway entrance to the city. The design-art works were conceived to introduce the story of change and development in a chronological sequence along the road. The sequence can be read as forward or backward in time including early wetlands, to farm lands, commerce, industry and subsequently an urban residential area. They story components are integrated into the bus shelters, sound barrier walls, pavements and feature works.
