First exhibited at the 2018 Lorne Sculpture Biennale and winner of the LSB Prize, VAJRASANA meditation is truly at home in its new location at Government House Canberra. The artwork presents a balance between the energy of reflection and the power of action. It symbolizes the role of guardian and governor.
The work is one of reflection – literally and conceptually. The upper part reflects the colours and movement in the surrounding environment. The stainless-steel plates shimmer and wave in the breeze. They invite contemplation.
The Corten steel base, in its colour and texture, connects to the earth and is in the curve of a spring, potent with action.
Like the meditation pose of the same name, the work presents a balance - between the energy of reflection and the power of action. It symbolizes the role of guardian and governor.
