'MARGARET WORTH: Earth & Ether' 2023 The Riddoch Arts and Culture Centre. Curator Eleanor Scicchitano

A retrospective exhibition covering 50 years of art practice, shows the diversity in responses by an artist pioneering transition from the 20th to the 21st century.

‘Earth and Ether’ is a retrospective exhibition at The Riddoch Arts & Culture Centre Mt. Gambier SA with selected works representing 50 years of practice.

The diversity of materials and styles may make it a challenge for viewers but the excellent essays in the exhibition catalogue offer perception and insight to its content.

‘Earth and Ether’ by Lara Nicholls, curator of Art, Australian War Memorial, provides an understanding and analysis of the time and place of the works.

‘Touchstones of Being and Becoming’ by Deborah Hart, senior curator Australian Art, Australian National Gallery offers insight into what informs the work.

Eleanor Scicchitano, curator of the exhibition, shares her perceptions in the introduction to the exhibition.

For the artist: “Through assembling this exhibition, I have come to appreciate that the pathways of chance and opportunity – wherever they led – brought development, inspiration and engagement with the physical world. It has continued throughout a lifetime.”
