These works are derived from working in rural, regional and remote areas with the people who make the land their life. Equally, their lives shape the land. The paintings in this exhibition were influenced by working on the ‘Four Colour’ drawings of Sol Le Witt in 1969-70. They present a meditative way of working that is a dedication to process and materials. Marks are drawn as an architecture of paddock spaces with layers that reveal those underneath. Robyn Nevin, in her Australia Day speech, 2004, reminded us that in times of uncertainty and need, we turn to religion, science and the arts. For Worth, the three are intimately interconnected in these works.
