Exhibition at The Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre, Mt. Gambier SA
Curator: Chris Clements
“Almost Here Almost Now is a far-reaching exhibition that draws from the collections of The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre and the National Gallery of Australia, bringing together a wide range of significant works from both Australian and International artists. Working with themes of mapping, living on the land and adaption, the exhibition asks us to consider the relationship between land and sky, what it means to us, and how we can locate our own place and time on the planet.”
The 2007 painting by Margaret Worth, So Many Raindrops, collection of The Riddoch, is a part of this exhibition with the works of other artists including Fred Williams, Emily Kngwarreye, Jeffrey Smart, Angelina Pwerle, Colin McCahon, Marion Borgelt, John Olsen, William Delafield Cook and Fiona Hall.
It was excellent company and the effect was a compelling view of land and culture as a map of pared down imagery, with deeply layered intention and observation.
