These works play with block forms constructed in polystyrene and surfaced in ways that are intentionally misleading. The faked finishes use paint as 'granite', 'stucco' as concrete, sand as ‘stone’, aluminium foil as ‘steel’ and flocking as ‘vegetation’. The works draw attention to the shift in popular preferences from materials true to themselves and Nature to fake finishes on 'false' materials. The weight of heroic traditions is reduced to an effect.
