‘Wind Veil’ 2005 Margaret Worth © ® As one of Australia’s most prestigious prizes for sculptors in Australia, the Helen Lempriere Scholarships foster and promote contemporary Australian sculpture. The ‘Wind Veil’ is a freestanding or wall mounted multi-panelled artwork that interacts with air movement and light. The small panels react individually to the air as it crosses the surface, creating patterns of movement. Variations in light and air currents make the surface appear to shimmer and ripple, reflecting the ambient colours. The excitement in the piece is its ever-changing responses to the environment. The surface becomes a moving image of the forces around it. Invisible energies are made visible.
